This is a complete set of 54 survival cards from the US Navy and is a rare find for collectors of militaria. The cards, dating back to the Vietnam Era, feature a range of plant species that were cultivated in Southeast Asia for use in survival situations. A unique addition to any collection. The cards were manufactured in the United States and provide a glimpse into the Navy’s survival strategies during a challenging time in Southeast Asia.

There are 46 cards that have images of plants on one side and if it is edible or poisonous on the back with information. 3 cards (52-54) have only words on both sides.  On one side of box, it reads FSN: 20-6910-918-8350.  On the other side it reads:  “Training Agency: DCNO(Air).  A Product of U.S. Naval Training Device Center.”

This item is being sold as a 50-year-old collectable. It belonged to a US Navy Veteran who served for 30 years and was stationed on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier in Yokosuka, Japan. Purchased in the 1970’s, these were his cards to study for a jungle survival course.  The cards are in very good condition and still have bright colors of the different plants. Some general wear on the box from use and storage. I removed the old masking tape that held the bottom and top closed for all these years. These cards have value for anyone interested in survival or outdoor activities. The cards give a lot of information on these plants.  Nice gift for a nature enthusiast, or history buff of Southeast Asia. These cards are a unique addition to a Militaria collection.
