1989 Marcel Shurman Aria Christmas Card Set of 15 Cards

New Old Store Stock. MINT Condition. Set of 15 cards and envelopes in original box.

These cards were printed exclusively for Marcel Schurman Company, Inc. The picture was taken from artwork by Jan Brueghel the Elder, born in Brussels, Belgium.(1568-1625) called the “Fruit and Flower Garland with the Holy Family in a Landscape”.

The front of the card has Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in a beautiful garden with rich colors. Little angels surround him and Angels hovering overhead in the garden. The Virgin is wearing a red dress and blue mantle, and sits holding Jesus as Joseph looks on over Mary’s shoulder. There is a sheep with an Angel sitting on it.

You can see 3 monkeys at the bottom of the card which was a trademark of Jan Brueghel the Elder. In the background you see deer standing and laying down and at the top back of the card. There are a few different birds at the bottom of the card and top of the flower garland.

Incredible amount of detail and the lovely color of the artwork in the original oil painting is captured in this card. Inside the card reads, “A Wish For Peace, Love and Happiness In This Season Of New Year”. Nice collector card or one that would look attractive in a pretty frame.
