Vintage Cleo Teissedre 22kt Gold Hand Painted Framed Ceramic Art Tile

Vintage, Old Store Stock. 1982 MINT Condition. 

This is a beautiful handmade Vintage Native American design created by Cleo Teissedre of Tucson, AZ. It shows Pueblo buildings, red pepper ristra and turquoise feather, 22KT gold and black and turquoise vase. Cleo Teissedre tells a story through her artwork which gives more meaning to the tile art.

Blue bird feathers designs encompass the exterior of the black and gold pot. Blue Feather symbolizes happiness, high honor, power, wisdom, trust, strength, and freedom. Birds play a wide variety of roles in Native American culture and are revered as bringers of messages and symbols of change.

Three Mountain ranges also can stand for abundance at the mouth of the pot. The tile includes a string of red peppers ristra. Red Chili peppers use it for personal protection. Ristras are sometimes used for decoration and are said to bring good health and good luck. The pepper’s red color was believed to symbolize the sun.

Cleo Teissedre was well known artist from Tucson, AZ. She was born on Aug. 31, 1930 and passed away on June 25, 2020. She was known for producing Native American-style Navajo Storyteller Pottery pieces. Cleo’s Storytellers, Tiles and figurines are very sought after. Signature on front and dated 1982.
