My mother would use this tray for parties with the matching high ball glasses. When I was younger, I would help set and decorate her dinning room table for parties. I was a big fan of the TV show Mad Men on Sunday nights also. Dorothy C. Thorpe’s glasses if you watched the TV show, Mad Men. The men used the glasses referred to as “roly poly glasses,” which are rounded with a silver band at the top, the glasses she designed appear countless times throughout the series and even on a poster for season 3. My mother and father entertained a lot when we lived in Chicago. This is when my design skills started very young in organizing my father’s different bar glasses. Which seemed to amaze him. Mother gave me this Glam glass tray when I got older, because I admired this tray so much for the design. I displayed it in a glass curio cabinet so everyone could enjoy it.

Dorothy C. Thorpe Inc. was her company and she carried other lines of tableware, accessories, and linens. Dorothy Thorpe passed away in 1989. Her skill in glass and design are still recognized today by curators, collectors, and even in pop culture. I have had it packed away for many years now. It needs to be enjoyed by someone who loves interesting glass pieces.
