Description
Vintage. Retro 1960s Mid-Century Modern Serving Bowl, featuring a bright-eyed Roadrunner in action. Manufactured by Couroc of Monterey (CA) from approximately the mid 1960’s – 1970’s. The vibrant Roadrunner design is fashioned from inlaid materials such as shells, coins, woods and metals. This retro Barware piece is in excellent condition for its age. The Roadrunner design still retains its original, vibrant and very handsome gold and light dark and brown coloring.
Couroc (roc standing for “hard as rock”) developed a proprietary formula of black phenolic resin to create durable and handsome trays and bowls, deeming it resistant to alcohol, boiling water and cigarette burns. These pieces were marketed as home bar decor.
Company slogan: Any tray can serve a drink. Only Couroc can start a conversation! Couroc closed its doors in 1998 shortly after celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Measures 7 3/4 in diameter and the raised rim is 1 1/2 in height. Embossed “Couroc of Monterey CALIFORNIA”. Still retains its original gold foil label.
Perfect to use serving cocktails and appetizers, as a stunning décor piece on your 60s styled Bar Cart, as a console Tray in your entryway to corral keys, loose change and mail – or simply as a gorgeous display piece! Display stand not included.
